Summer Repair and Replace

We’re looking forward to the All-Star game on Tuesday—have you gotten your commercial accounts spruced up yet? Get a move on—there will be lots of visiting baseball fans to impress during the week. This is the time of year when landscape beds and planters need freshening, holes need to be patched, and some hanging baskets need to get swapped out for more heat-friendly choices. 

At Diefenbacher we grow fresh material at the beginning of summer specifically for July and August—leftovers will not do. We pride ourselves on being your resource for new summer plants that look great right on through to the end of the season. Our high-summer crops are ready to go—play ball!

Here are some heavy hitters from our own all-star line-up:

Begonias

We have a wide assortment from the following series: 

• Bada Bing (Rose, Scarlet, White, and a Mix)
• Bada Boom (Scarlet, Pink)
• Cocktail (‘Gin’ [Pastel Pink], ‘Tequila’ [Deep Pink], ‘Vodka’ [Red], and ‘Whiskey’ [White]) 
• Super Olympia (Pink, White, Red, and a Mix) 
• Whopper (Bronze Leaf Red, Green Leaf Red) 
• Volumia (Pink and Scarlet)

All of our begonia selections are available in the 8-inch pot.

Calibrachoas

• Cabaret selections include Yellow, Deep Blue, Bright Red, Lavender, and Hot Pink, all in the 8-inch pot.
• Deep Yellow and Lavender come in the 10-inch hanging basket.
• Mix Master combinations Sweet Melody and Sundance are available in the 8-inch pot
• A Grape Fit comes in the 10-inch hanging basket. 

Coleus

Coleus is an easy way to knock a landscape design out of the park. There are a lot of quality solids and patterns in this category. Popular summer varieties include:

• ‘Kong Salmon Pink’
• ‘Pineapple Splash’
• ‘Electric Lime’
• ‘Redhead’
• ‘Rustic Orange’

Our coleus are available in the 4.5 and 8-inch pot sizes.

Geraniums

• Zonal geraniums from the Fantasia series include Salmon, Strawberry Sizzle, and White. 
• We also have ‘Boldly Dark Red’—during baseball season we’re partial to the Reds.
• ‘Moskito Shocker’ will keep the pests away. 

All are available in the 8-inch pot. 

Impatiens

Unlike traditional impatiens, our hybrid alternatives are not susceptible to downy mildew. 

• From the Bounce series we have Cherry, Violet, and Pink Flame in the 10-inch hanging basket. 
• Our SunPatiens Compact varieties include Lilac, Orange, Coral, White Improved, and Deep Rose in the 8-inch pot.
• SunPatiens Lilac is available in the 10-inch hanging basket as well. 
• Divine New Guineas include Lavender, Scarlet Red, and White Blush, all in the 8-inch pot.

Petunias

From the spreading Wave series we have Pink, Purple, and Blue; Easy Waves come in Red and White. These are all available in the 8-inch pot. 

• Supertunia series include: White, ‘Bermuda Beach’, Red, ‘Raspberry Blast’, ‘Lavender Sky’, ‘Bordeaux’, ‘Flamingo’, and ‘Royal Velvet’ in the 10-inch hanging basket. 
• ‘Raspberry Blast’, ‘Vista Silverberry’, ‘Royal Velvet’, and White also come in the 8-inch pot. 
• ‘Sanguna Burgundy’ and ‘Sanguna Atomic Blue’ come in the 8-inch pot. 
• Jessica’s Delight Mix is available in the 10-inch hanging basket.

Vinca

• Cora Cascade is a trailing series available in 10-inch hanging baskets: Lilac, Strawberry, Cherry, Apricot, and a Mix.
• Cora Violet is available in the 8-inch pot. 
• Titans in the 8-inch pot include: Icy Pink, Dark Red, Lilac, Polka Dot, and a Mix. 
• ‘Mediterranean XP Rose’ is available in the 10-inch hanging basket.
