Coleus ‘Campfire’
Rusty orange-red tones of Coleus ‘Campfire’
We’ve added a hot new coleus to our collection for spring: ‘Campfire’. Look at these warm, rich orange tones—makes me wish I had some marshmallows. It’s rare that we find a rusty orange-red such as this in a coleus, even with all the innovative selections the breeders have been coming up with recently.
Glowing foliage stays vibrant in sun or shade
Notice how the leaves actually appear to be glowing—the coloration is intense. ‘Campfire’ is one of the new sun coleus varieties that stay vibrant in sun or shade, which makes it extremely versatile. This is a great selling point in our book—we’re always happy to get more bang for our buck. We can use the striking foliage to brighten up shade areas, plus we can add it to patio pots for sun to up the drama.
Impressive display of color
Vigorous is a fitting way to describe this plant—it reaches about three feet high with a similar spread. We make a point of using it en masse in the landscape because the display of color is truly impressive—even from a great distance.
Vivid orange mixes well with other selections
For extra interest, mix ‘Campfire’ with other coleus selections—most tend to get along well together. Two that look particularly striking against the vivid orange are burgundy ‘Redhead’ and bright chartreuse ‘Wasabi’.
To enhance the warm orange glow add some golden foliage—like pretty gold duranta for example. Another way to go: plant some ‘Mystic Spires Blue’ salvia for contrast—‘Campfire’ makes the spiky blue flowers pop.
This coleus selection comes in the 4.5 and 8-inch pot sizes.
