Lisianthus ‘Sapphire Blue Chip’
‘Sapphire Blue Chip’ out-blooms all the others
Look at all the big 2-inch blooms—these little plants are practically covered with them. Yet somehow they hold up and keep their tidy, mounded appearance—that’s why we grow the Sapphire series. It out-blooms all the others—as a matter of fact, it’s probably the heaviest blooming lisianthus series on the market.
The symmetrical shape is great for borders or containers
We like ‘Blue Chip’ especially and you can see why. The edges of these elegant white flowers appear to have been dipped in brilliant blue ink. It’s an eye-catching effect; if you’re looking to add classic charm and style to a design, this is the plant to use.

Lisianthus is a good design choice when you need generous flowers for a dramatic setting, but you need to keep the drama low and tight. ‘Sapphire Blue Chip’ reaches only around six inches tall.
Combined with a nice symmetrical appearance, its petite size makes this variety a natural choice for the front of a border or edging along a display garden. The blooms start out as long, slender buds that rise up in a candelabra formation and continually replace themselves throughout the summer. They make surprisingly good cut flowers.
We grow this variety in the 4.5-inch pot. ‘Sapphire Blue’, with solid blue-purple flowers, is available in the 4.5-inch size as well.
