Dahlia ‘Star Sister Scarlet and Yellow’
Unique flowers expand our design palette
Beautiful dahlias grace the summer landscape in about as many sizes, shapes, and colors as there are stars in the sky. That’s ok by us, because each one brings its own unique set of features to expand our design palette.
Deep scarlet makes the yellow pop
We’ve added a showy new dahlia to our lineup for spring that’s bound to turn a lot of heads. Take one look at these intense flowers and you’ll know what we mean: the deep scarlet makes the fringed yellow petals and centers pop. We’re talking wow factor.
Exotic blooms on dwarf plants
‘Star Sister Scarlet and Yellow’ is a dwarf but it’s got flower power to spare. You might call it a non-stop showstopper: plants are covered with the bright, semi-double blooms continuously from summer to mid fall. Reaching only around a foot tall, it adds an exotic flair to the front of a sunny bed or border.
Let this scene-stealer take center stage
As you can see, the lush green foliage fills in nicely so we use this dahlia in patio pots and window boxes, too. It’s a scene-stealer so we like to let it take center stage: a row of ‘Scarlet and Yellow’ in a rectangular planter is all you need. Of course, it adds drama to combinations, too; as filler you’ll find that it’s thrilling as well.
Deadheading will keep plants looking neat and tidy and encourage the continuous bloom. Although it’s not a selection from our Zoo’s Best Pollinators program, butterflies and other pollinators do find the fragrant flowers of ‘Scarlet and Yellow’ highly attractive.
Intense flowers add drama to combinations
We grow this eye-catching variety in the 6-inch pot.
