Holiday Air Freshener

FN 1.3 Greens, Pine Roping Close 5 copy
Enjoy the Christmas aroma of freshly cut greens from Central Ohio firs

That little tree dangling from your rearview mirror has a nice fresh scent—it’s a classic but it pales in comparison to the real thing. At Diefenbacher the air is full of authentic holiday fragrance: our evergreens are freshly cut from Central Ohio firs so they’re genuinely aromatic and can be used for both indoor and outdoor displays.

Fast Fertilizer Fixes

FN 1.1 IMP SunPatiens Compact Tropical Rose 0003
Like Goldilocks—we want our soil to be just right

Often we turn to commercial fertilizer when we feel a bed is lacking in size, color, or bloom. As a matter of fact, a few of these quick fix scenarios played out in our display beds this year. When the time comes, it’s important to remember that overfeeding can introduce problems as much as underfeeding does.

‘Autumn Leaves’ from Dümmen Orange

Here’s a different spin on the typical poinsettia—‘Autumn Leaves’, a unique variety from Dümmen Orange in a warm blend of autumn-inspired shades. Deep apricot-yellow bracts are flecked with pink, bringing to mind a sunny fall nature walk or some freshly baked pumpkin spice cookies gently dusted with cinnamon.

Less Strain on the Brain

FN 1.8 Garden file 5184x3456 000722
Keeping it simple with purple and chartreuse

Chaos abounds on Mischief Night and as far as we’re concerned, we’d like to keep it contained. Have you ever looked at a design that just didn’t seem right but you couldn’t put your finger on what was wrong? Some say that if you have too many colors in a garden mix the brain gets confused and looks past it. We find this to be true.

Many shapes and textures but just two colors

Many formula mixes have seven, eight, or nine colors in them—they’re bright, they’re colorful, but they’ve got too many colors going on at once. Putting together your own mix is another option, and if you decide to do so we challenge you to use fewer colors to make it more cohesive.
